Access to medical records

Your medical records are confidential.

The practice is registered and complies with the Data Protection Act 1998. Any request for access to notes by a patient, a patient’s representative or an outside body will be dealt with in accordance with the Act.

You do have the right to access to your medical records in accordance with the Access to Records Act 1990. Please contact the Practice Manager for further information.  We will require a signed consent request (available in the library section of the website) and there may be a £10 fee for access to your records.

No information about you will be given to third parties without your consent with the exception of information given to another doctor or health professional for the purposes of a your medical care.

Reports from your medical records may be requested by insurance companies, employers etc. Reports will not be prepared without your permission in writing and you will be asked to state whether or not you wish to see the report before it is sent.
