CPCS Pharmacy Referral Scheme

Pharmacy Consultations (CPCS)

A consultation with a GP isn’t always the best option for you, sometimes a community pharmacist is who you need to see.

The Community Pharmacy Consultation Service (CPCS) means that you may be offered a consultation with a pharmacist, at a pharmacy of your choice, rather than a GP. Pharmacies offering this service have consultation rooms and should contact you within 2 working hours.

This consultation will be similar to that you would normally have with a GP. You will have a One-on-One consultation where the clinical pharmacist will discuss your medications, symptoms, and possible treatments.

If the pharmacist believes that you need to be seen by a GP they will inform you of this. For urgent matters where the pharmacist believes you need to be seen by a GP same day, the pharmacist will contact the surgery themselves to refer you.

For cases where you need to be seen by a GP but it isn’t urgent enough to require a same day appointment the pharmacist will ask you to contact us and book a routine appointment. The practice will be updated by the Pharmacy.
